Tie Pin and Tie Clip

Tie Tacks

Tie tacks are neckwear-controlling accessories that fixe the shirt with the tie using a pin. The tie tack gives a polished touch to your appearance.
Tie tacks have a pin and backing design much like an earring, along with a chain and stem which are placed through the buttonhole of a dress shirt for anchoring.  To don a tie tack, you have to remove the pin out from its base, then pierce through the cloth of your tie, connect the base to the pin again and then slip the metal weight and chain through one of the button holes of your shirt. Now only the top adornment pin is visible.
Usually tie tacks are made of metal, sometimes it is precious metal like gold, silver or even platinum. And of course, there are many different designs of tie tacks: with colored stone up front, company logos, flags. Sometimes gems or pearls are used in tie tack pin.
Tie tack's pin penetrate the fabric of the tie in order to keep it securely fastened. Over time this penetration damages the often expensive materials used in ties.

A few words about what tie tacks are.
Tie tacks are somewhat different from the usual pin:
1)
the back needle is longer on 2-3mm than the pins'
2) The clip is different in form from the clips and pins are often equipped with a chain with a crossbar. Tie tack is pinned to the tie and the chain wrapped around the buttons of his shirt, to fix the tie.
3)
Generally, tie tacks are not very large. Their size is between 0,8 to 1,5 cm

Tie tacks were very popular in America in the
years 60th and 70th, and most of the tie accesories at the time were either badges or tie tacks.
Clips from the tie tacks fit pins, and vice versa. If you wear regular clip on Tie tack, then Tie tack pin to be more thick material, as its pin is longer than usual and not buried as deeply as a clip from Tie Tack.

From my point of view, tie tacks are very original and interesting way to look stylish.
